Fly-out to Schenectady Feb 17.

We will be running the trip on March 17th as well for members who were unable to fly in February.

George Clark writes: … Steve Fogarty has planned a joint fly-out to Schenectady (SCH) with the Fitchburg Pilots Association for Saturday January 20th, with "rain" (snow?) dates of Feb. 17 or March 17. Featured on the trip will be:

ESAM sounds like an interesting museum, a very short walk from the FBO, and is handicap accessible. They have a number of unique aircraft including a 1922, the DePishoff "Flying Motorcycle", a 1896 Chanute-type Glider, a MD F-101, F4 Phantom, Mig 17, Mig 21, and many other aircraft. The museum consists of 2 buildings, and a number of aircraft outdoors as well. See the photo gallery at http://www.esam.org/content.php?menu=Photo_Album&itemPtr=2

Everyone is welcome. WAPA Members will meet up in two or three waves. For the early crowd, meet ORH 8 AM for 8:20 departure. The 9-9:30 crowd can meet and leave 9:20 to 9:30. If that's still too early, anyone can just meet in Schenectady. Just be sure to leave yourself enough time to see the museum. (97 NM from ORH - about an hour flight for a 115 Kts. aircraft). Breakfast runs from 8AM 'till 10:30. And the Museum is open from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. No sign-up necessary… but use the Unicom e-mail list to let us know if you are going. Non-members can send to the feedback list

FPA members can either meet up in FIT and fly direct from there, or meet up at ORH and fly out with the WAPA crowd.

Wind is not scheduled to let up through Saturday so cold, bumpy, and snow covered planes.

Though WAPA has many experienced pilots we try to safely plan our trips with requirements that are suited to a pilot with a relatively new private license.

A forecast for good VFR with the winds below 25 mph is the normal criteria.

Will work on use of extra seats in the planes once we get closer to 2/17 and see who is going and who has seats.
