I attended the Worcester Airport Commission meeting on behalf of WAPA, the following are my notes: 5 commissioners and Eric Waldron attended the meeting. I was the only other attendee. The meeting was called to order promptly at 6:30 PM on Monday 12/9/02 by the Chairman, Michael Amir and lasted about an hour.

Old Business:

Minutes were approved for the previous meeting.

Michael distributed a report from Eric on the accomplishments at the airport for

the year. I was given a copy of the report and will forward it to George for publication or to keep on file with WAPA. Most items were security related.

Next were committee reports:

Committee on City Advisory (??): No report.

Marketing Committee (RN): Congressman McGovern has expressed interest in meeting with the Commission in the near future.

GA Report (JP): No report.

Directors Report (EW):

Eric reported on the progress of the CAT II/III ILS project. The consultants on the project and Eric gave a presentation to the FAA, which was favorable. Next month the consultants will be on the agenda to give the same presentation to the Commission.

Security: Vehicle access for based pilots is restored and a badging system for pilots is in place which conforms to the MAC pilot ID. WAPA was acknowledged for our help in spreading the word.

Air Carriers: US Air had a favorable 52% load factor for November despite several weather cancellations primarily at the Philadelphia end.

One commissioner asked the director about a pending issue at the fuel farm. There is a potential large capital expense required for site remediation, however the airport is able to stay in compliance through a monitoring program.

New Business: The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) will be leasing space in the terminal. The Commission voted to give the Director authority to negotiate a lease within some limits.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13, 2003 at 6:30 PM and the CAT II/III proposal will be reviewed.

If WAPA or anyone wishes to bring anything before the commission we must ask to be added to the agenda prior to the meeting, the proper procedure would be to contact the GA Committee Chair, Jim Powell, the Director, Eric Waldron or the Chairman, Michael Amir. I suggest we work with Jim prior to bringing recommendations to the commission. This would allow us to get his endorsement ahead of time as the others may defer to Jim as GA Chair for an opinion.
