Section |
Use |
aviation.worcesterapa.org |
This is our current collection of stories. Topic hierarchy will cover general aviation related information. TFRs, Safety Seminars, etc. Equipment review, Local airport news, etc. Stories will cross-link so that at least some "fly" stories will also show up in the "aviation" section. |
www.worcesterapa.org |
This is the "front page" and will contain a roll-up of some stories from the other sections |
wapa.worcesterapa.org |
This is the home of just WAPA specific news. Meeting minutes, member news, etc. |
fly.worcesterapa.org |
Topic hierarchy will be all related around destinations. Food, Picnic, Museums, Shopping, Festivals, Fly-Ins, etc. etc. Anyone visiting this page will get a collection of storys about places to fly And you know, anybody can contribute. Maybe we can even get some suggestions from outside the area. |
The "Topic Tree" Concepts
You can find the current topic tree at
WAPA Topic Tree This is integral to the "Search" system. Each topic is represented by an icon. Each story is assigned one or more relevant topics, and the last 5 topics, across
all sections appear across the top of each page. When you click on a topic icon, the system searches for stories that reference that topic,
and all child topics within the hierarchy. So in the above referenced topic tree, when you click on "Manufacturers", you will get any stories that reference any of the manufacturers; Jeppesen, Garmin, Cessna, American Yankee, Mooney.

All the above is relatively easy to accomplish. Essentially is it just tweaking here and there what we already have. We need to lay out the "topics", and for any budding artists, we could use help with designing and building icons to represent topics. (48 pixels high, transparent gif, width up to 60 or so.)
