Updated security restrictions proposed at all Massport airports.

George Clark writes: … Steve Foley inquired about a Massport legal notice in Tuesday's Telegram. There is a public hearing scheduled for Wednesday September 5th at Logan Airport.

The proposed regulations (mirrored here)appear to completely ignore the impact on General Aviation. One item bans all photography and recording in any Restricted Area.* Any media is subject to confiscation if not surrendered voluntarily. Another bans all firearms except for law enforcement, etc. I'm not a hunter, but what does this do to pilots or GA passengers who are legally entitled to carry a firearm for flights up into the north for hunting trips?

And for the commercial traveler, the ban on photography or recording have the potential to prevent public exposure of some of the security abuses and excesses that have been reported elsewhere.

* A restricted area is defined as any area of an airport to which the public does not have authorized access.
