NASA Aviation Safety "Callback" celebrates 25 years.

George writes: The NASA Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS) monthly newsletter "Callback" celebrated 25 years of publication in July. For those of you unaware, ASRS is a safety reporting system where pilots and others can be granted immunity for their actions provided that the report is timely and the actions un-intentional. There are other restrictions, so be sure toread the fine print! Regardless of the immunity policy, it is a good practice to file the reports. Submitting a report gets you on the mailing list for the monthly newsletter. Reporting forms are available online. (I carry one in my flight bag).

NASA also has a rather eclectic set of reports available covering topics ranging from Air Carrier Crew Fatigue to Wake Turbulence encounters. The report on Personal Electronic Devices is food for thought when you notice someone refusing to turn off their electronics.

I never liked riding in helicopters because there's a fair probability that the bottom part will get going around as fast as the top part. --Lt. Col. John Wittenborn, USAFR.
