How do I get active in Flying again?

Bruce Irving writes: "I've been out of flying for a couple of years and want to get active again. I trained at Amity and passed my private check ride in May 2001. … I've only flown a few times since the check ride, alas, but things are better and now it's time to get back to it. I thought joining the local flying organization might be a good start." [ed. Welcome to WAPA!]

"I've got various options and interests. One is to just go somewhere (ORH, FIT) and get a few hours of dual to get back up to speed, get a BFR, and start flying C152 or C172 (or something) again. I'm also interested in learning to fly a small tail-dragger like the Cubs I flew as a kid in Civil Air Patrol many years ago (might even want to buy such a thing someday, but don't tell my wife)." [ed. I hope that she doesn't read the web] "But I don't know if anyone in the Worcester area instructs in simple (as opposed to say, aerobatic) tail draggers. The other interest is gliding -- maybe join the GBSC at Sterling and get rated in gliders (I live in West Boylston, Sterling is 5 minutes away).

Sorry to be so long-winded. I didn't see a regular "forum" area on the web site where one might post "anybody got any suggestions?" types of things. So, got any suggestions?"
