Re:   General Aviation Security Access Procedures - Vehicles

Date: March 19, 2002

I am pleased to announce that based pilots at Worcester Regional Airport will soon be able to access their tie down or hangar area in their vehicles, under the following procedures:

  • As before, you'll need to complete and Airfield Access Application. This application can be obtained from the Police/ARFF station, by appointment only. They can be reached at 508-799-1348 to set up an appointment.

  • You'll need to bring copies of your vehicle registration and insurance policy. Just as before, the minimum liability coverage required is $100,000, per vehicle.

  • You;ll be issuesd a sticker, which must be affixed permanently to your vehicle and which will be valid for one year.

  • The fee for this is $15.00 (per vehicle, nonrefundable), payable by check or money order made out to Worcester Regional Airport.

  • Each vehicle will be required to be escorted both to and from Gate 10 and the individual tie down/hangar by Worcester Regional Airport Police, Operations, authorized Swissport representatives, or other approved entities.

  • You'll need to contact the Airport Police or Swissport via telephone, the intercom that has been installed at Gate 10, or Unicom (122.95), as the situation warrants.

  • Again, it must be stressed that your vehicle must be escorted both to and from your tie down or hangar. This means that if you get there and have forgotton something, you must call for an escort back to Gate 10 or the Swissport building.

Please note that at certain times of the day escort personnel from each of the entities are involved with air carrier operations, so delays in receiving such escort services may be encountered. The likely times when this can be anticipated are between the hours of 0530 to 0800, 1100 to 1200, 1330 to 1530, 1900 to 2000 and 2200 to 2400.

I want to thank everyone for their patience in dealing with these unprecedented security challenges and, in advance, for their cooperation in making this arrangement work. If you have any questions, please call the Airport Police Department at 508-799-1348 or 1349.
