WAPA Web Information

The WAPA Web consists of a number of free open-source tools. They are assembled to provide a variety of capabilities to the WAPA membership. There are two main parts to the WAPA web:

WAPA Web (Wiki)

The "Wiki" is the primary web site at http://worcesterapa.org It permits anyone to create and edit web pages without any specific knowledge on how to write a web page. It uses a very simple notation for page content and keeps a detailed revision history of every page. Any registered user can change content on the web simply by selecting the Edit link on each page. (You are looking at a Wiki page right now… notice the "edit" link at the top and bottom)

Each registered user is assigned a WikiName (FirstLast name concatenated together), and is given a personal home page under that name. Anyone can register, but only WAPA members will be given access to information such as meeting minutes and member names and addresses. This is done to prevent harvesting of e-mail addresses or exposing other personal information to the general public.

If you want to access the secure section of the web, you must register at UserRegsitration. When you fill out and submit the form on that page, you will get an e-mail asking you to confirm your membership. Follow the instructions to activate your membership. (This step prevents someone else from signing up with your e-mail address). Also note that there is a fairly short time limit for confirming your membership. This is done to prevent "robot" registrations by spammers.

A Secure "Members Only" section on the WAPA Web

The secure section of the web server is protected behind your userid (WikiName) and password. It is used for information that we would not want indexed and visible on the Internet at large. This includes:

TIPNote: On the WAPA Web, Web addresses, user names and passwords are case sensitive.
