March '07 - Flyout, Meetings, Web, and other news

Flyout March 17th Some of us delayed by frozen aircraft plan to make the trip to Schenectady on Saturday March 17. Members, send a note to unicom@worcesterapa.org if you are planning to attend - Non-members are welcome and can us know by sending an e-mail to feedback@worcesterapa.org. See NewsStory2006x12x09x0 for details on the trip. Everything else will remain the same.

The WAPA Nominating meeting is scheduled as a lead-in to the April FAA Safety Seminar. The meeting and seminar will be on Thursday April 5th. Please try to be at the Worcester Airport Terminal by 6:30 PM, so we can have a very short business meeting and not delay the start of the seminar. The topic of the Seminar is "Runway Safety". You can find FAA seminar information at http://www.faasafety.gov/SPANS/

If you are interested in helping WAPA for 2007, please speak up. Send an e-mail to feedback@worcesterapa.org and let us know. We are still looking for nominees for the upcoming openings in the Board of Directors. There are three open Board positions - this is your chance to become more involved in WAPA affairs! Come to the meeting and put your name in the game. Elections will take place at the May 3 meeting.

Membership Renewals are due now! Please update your contact information at https://survey.worcesterapa.org/signup.form and then follow the instructions on ContactUpdateThanks Note that sometime in the next few weeks we are going to be catching up with some long overdue admistrivia and will be removing e-mail addresses from the Unicom e-mail list who have not renewed since 2005. So please renew soon!

Please notify us at feedback@worcesterapa.org if you would prefer a phone call instead of e-mail for meeting notices. One of our members has volunteered to make calls to members who would prefer a more personal touch. And if you would like to help with the calls, let us know as well.

The WAPA Web and e-mail systems have been migrated to another server to pick up software updates, daylight savings time fixes, and a number of other minor changes. The Web Survey and e-mail list pages have been moved to a secure https:// connection to improve privacy when information is submitted to WAPA. Click the read-more link for details on the SSL Certificate.

The WAPA SSL certificate was issued by cacert.org http://www.cacert.org/ Most browsers don't include the CACert root certificate, so you will get a browser error warning you to question the authenticity of the certificate. You can just accept our certificate, or go to the http://www.cacert.org/ to obtain a copy of their root certificate. ALERT! Caution: If you go to the CACert.org web and install their root certificate, you are automatically trusting all certificates signed by the CACert authority. It may be best to just accept the WAPA certificate.
