30 Mile TFR Thursday-Sunday over Kennebunkport

George Clark writes: … AOPA reported today that there will be a Presidential TFR up at Kennebunkport this week, running Thursday thru Sunday, 1045 LOCAL 08/24/06 UNTIL 1420 LOCAL 08/27/06. The FAA TFR page has the details, but no map yet. AOPA has a complete list of affected airports This TFR is the expected 30 mile radius of restrictions with a 10 NM no-fly zone. And of course, Check with FSS for changes as the TFR will move with the President.

ALERT! *Caution: The TFR area is different than depicted on the sectional!
  • ALL AIRCRAFT ENTERING OR EXITING THE 30 NM RADIUS TFR MUST BE ON AN ACTIVE IFR OR VFR FLIGHT PLAN WITH A DISCRETE CODE ASSIGNED BY AN AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC) FACILITY.
  • AIRCRAFT MUST BE SQUAWKING THE DISCRETE CODE PRIOR TO DEPARTURE AND AT ALL TIMES WHILE IN THE TFR.
  • ALL AIRCRAFT ENTERING OR EXITING THE 30 NM RADIUS TFR MUST REMAIN IN TWO-WAY RADIO COMMUNICATIONS WITH ATC.
  • ALL AIRCRAFT OPERATING WITHIN THE 10 TO 30 NM RADIUS TFR AND OPERATING AT ALTITUDES OF UP TO BUT NOT INCLUDING FL180 ARE LIMITED TO AIRCRAFT ARRIVING OR DEPARTING LOCAL AIRFIELDS
  • ATC MAY AUTHORIZE TRANSIT OPERATIONS.
  • AIRCRAFT MAY NOT LOITER.
  • FLIGHT TRAINING, PRACTICE INSTRUMENT APPROACHES, AEROBATIC FLIGHT, GLIDER OPERATIONS, PARACHUTE OPERATIONS, ULTRALIGHT, HANG GLIDING, BALLOON OPERATIONS, AGRICULTURE/CROP DUSTING, ANIMAL POPULATION CONTROL FLIGHT OPERATIONS, AND BANNER TOWING OPERATIONS ARE NOT AUTHORIZED.

The NH TFR a few months ago resulted in someone being escorted by fighters, hopefully we'll avoid that this time around.

I never liked riding in helicopters because there's a fair probability that the bottom part will get going around as fast as the top part. --Lt. Col. John Wittenborn, USAFR.
