Update April 2004... Prices are back up to $3.58 or thereabouts, but a $.15/gal WAPA discount has returned.
At $2.85, they are now within 7-15% of the fuel prices at other airports the area. Generally, they do have longer hours of operation, and we can't forget the free cookies! Their overhead is a bit higher as well. This sounds pretty reasonable to me.
The paving of the new GA ramp is done, and the Hangar tenants are back in their hangars. This week they hope to seal the pavement to prevent damage from fuel spills, and especially from pilots discarding fuel samples on the ramp. (Doesn't everone use something like the GATS jar and return the fuel to the tank?) Once that is done, tie-downs will re-open. And, construction on the new "crash-proof" vehicle gates is well under way. Along with the gates will be a turnstile to allow pilots to walk off the field, and will not allow re-entry.
