Suggestions for Fly-In destinations

What should we do for Fly-In destinations. Make your suggestions here. There is a group that does breakfast nearly every Sunday morning out of Spencer. What else? Lets get some suggestions running for places to go and things to do.

Fly-In

Finally got to this screen. So far this is not intuitively obvious to me. IT TOOK SEVERAL tries to get here. This was a search mission. One idea is Chatam airport on the cape. There is a restaurant right at the airport. The view of the planes coming in is great. The flight over the cape on a nice sunny day is fantastic.

It's been years since I've had a meal at Chatham. If I recall, the restaurant was really great. Some very interesting selections for meals.

Fly-in Destinations

I stupidly volunteered for duty tonight. Unless otherwise notified, I will be the self-appointed fly-in destination coordinator. I suggest keeping the fly-ins informal and frequent. I would ultimately like to have a reference of on-line menus available from the various restaurants around. We also need to determine the best time(s) to schedule these fly-ins. I currently try to fly from Spencer on Sunday mornings. This works well for me, as my family is used to it. With summer and daylight savings approaching, we can also do some after work, dinner fly-ins. Suggestions are needed, and I would like to try to keep an up to date list of area (under 200 miles) restaurants within walking distance of airports. Currently, I know of: Fitchburg, MA Keene, NH Columbia County, NY Lawrence, MA Mountain Meadow, CT Sanford, ME We need more!

Steve, This is great. Somewhat close are Barnes Westfield, Southbridge, and MinuteMan, are those restaurants still open? Also, Jaffrey NH has a Kimballs Ice Cream shop, that would be great for a summer afternoon trip. A little too much snow fell today to think about that one for very long. And Larry mentioned in his earlier post that Chatham has a nice restaurant as well.

Plymouth, MA has a decent restuarant, good view of the airport and gliders coming & going on weekends.

Old Rhinebeck Fly-in June 23

by Steve Foley on Saturday April 13, 2002

Steve Fogarty from Spencer has put together a fly-in to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome for Sunday, June 23, 2002. Flights should be ready to depart Spencer (or Worcester) at 8:30am. We will meet at Columbia County (1B1) for breakfast, and continue on to Rhinebeck from there. We probably won't land at Rhinebeck, but at a nearby airport and arrange transportation from there. We should arrive in the Rhinebeck area between 11:00 and noon. I think the show runs from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Expect some night flying on the return trip. If you're interested in coming, please e-mail
