Announcement from Joel Glickman

  • Please forward this message to as many New England Pilots as you can
  • Please print this out, post it in your briefing room -- Thank you
A Montpelier, VT (KMPV) favorite, Sambel's restaurant, is being threatened with closure by the VT Agency of Transportation. Sambel's is located in the terminal building at Vermont's capital airport (KMPV). They are very popular among locals and pilots alike. Bob and Brenda Sambel are the friendliest restaurateurs you'll ever meet and have been accommodating to pilots, opening outside of normal business hours at times to feed pilots. While they have a long term lease with the state of Vermont and have been abiding by every term therein, the state is no longer happy with the lease and either wants more money or a different tenant. Sambel's respectfully asked for another few years after which they would retire, but the state will not stop pushing, despite the fact that their current lease covers the next few years. Please help support an off-ramp on our aviation superhighway before its too late and show the state that they must abide by the rule of law, as do its citizens, and continue to honor the lease.

We need a show of strength from New England pilots to save this landmark restaurant, or the state may prevail. Help join the general aviation air force at KMPV on Saturday, April 3rd at noontime. Plan your flight to arrive + / - 30 minutes to account for the volume of traffic expected. Your mere presence will help send a strong message to the state. Also, Sambel's is sponsoring a wonderful spring cookout. For $5, you can enjoy all the hamburgers, hotdogs, salads, and fixin's you can eat. The local media will be there - TV and newspapers - to document our rally. This is a chance to enjoy a beautiful spring flight to VT, a nice spring cookout with other area pilots, and demonstrate your support in the face of big government overstepping its bounds.

Date: Saturday, April 3rd, 2010 Time: 12:00 noon ± half hour Location: KPMV - Montpelier, VT Price: $5 for all-you-can-eat
