August 25 Flyout to Elmira Museums
If nobody shows up, does a fly-out still happen? Your organizers asked a couple of times if anyone was planning on attending. We only had one reply out of 100+ on our e-mail list, and he was without an aircraft, looking for a ride. With no pilots replying, it appeared that we would have a solo-cross-country, and that's not the purpose of a fly-out. We really need some sort of critical mass to make the trip worth running. If you were planning on attending and didn't say anything, next time please speak up! We'll continue to try the occasional fly-out, but it doesn't make sense to go if nobody goes along. So please, next time, let us know your intentions. Thanks.
George Clark writes: … Steve F. has arranged a fly-out with the Fitchburg Pilots Association to the
Glen Curtiss museum and the
National Soaring Museums in the Elmira NY area. Flyout is planned for Saturday August 25th with a rain date of Sunday August 26th.
Elmira (ELM) is approximately 225 nautical miles West, so the destination is expected to be less than 2 hours away. Plan your departure to meet up in Elmira between 9 and 9:30.
