2006 Owls Head Flyout

%ANOTHER TRIP IS ON FOR TODAY SUNDAY 7/30. The Owls Head trip is Saturday July 29 with a rain date of Sunday July 30.

There is a lot to see at Owl’s Head and a lot of display activity before the air show so this will be planned as a direct flight from ORH to Knox County Airport (RKD) with no stop for breakfast. Also the airport closes from 1:30 to 3 for the air show so we need to arrive before 1 PM.

Meet at ORH between 8 and 8:30 AM.for a 8:30 departure as the flight is approximately 2 hours in a Skyhawk. Fly to Plum Island, at mouth of Merrimack river, then fly the sandy beaches up to Portland and then the rocky lighthouse dotted coast to RKD. If people what to go from their home airport or stop for breakfast then they can meet the group at RKD. WAPA Members can coordinate rides, etc by sending email to unicom@worcesterapa.org

As with the Rhinebeck trip a notice will be placed on the website and Swissport will also be notified by 6 AM on Saturday and again Sunday if the trip is cancelled.

This is a really pretty flight and you can fly over the Bush compound as long as you are above one thousand feet, 1500 ft for safety, and the President is not there thus there is no active TFR. Going through or under the Portland airspace is also easy to do.

Parking at Owls Head is at the FBO on the south east side of the field and the museum shuttles people from there to the north east side where the museum is located.

Suggest you bring a folding chair, hat, and sun screen on this trip
