The Collings Foundation Open House

Wheels & Wings: Great and Small

The Collings Foundation of Stow, MA is pleased to announce its annual Open House "Wheels & Wings: Great and Small" on Fathers Day Weekend, June 19th and 20th. Gates open at 8:30AM and close at 4:30PM each day. A donation of $7 is requested for adults; $5 for children.

There will be numerous displays of Aircraft, Automobiles, Radio-Controlled Aircraft (flying and static displays from assembled flyers from Charles River Radio Controllers and other local groups), a Minicar display (courtesy of The Gould Foundation Collection of Hudson, MA), as well as the opportunity to purchase items from the Collings Foundation Gift Shop. Refreshments will also be available.

Aircraft will include: a Wright "Vin Fiz" replica; 1909 Bleriot, Fokker DR-1 replica, PT-17 Stearman, Cessna UC-78 Bobcat, North American AT-6 Texan, Fiesler Fi-156 Storch, Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star and a Yakolev Yak-3 rebuild project.

Automobiles will include the entire Collings Foundation collection of over 60 automobiles, including a 1916 Stanley Steamer Touring Car, 1932 Duesenburg Dual-Cowl SJ Phaeton, 1927 Rolls Royce Springfield Phantom 1 Phaeton, Al Capone?s 1940 Cadillac Limousine V-16, Indy 500 race cars, sprint cars from the 1920's to 1950's, midget racers from the 1930's-1950's, as well as numerous vintage military vehicles and truck/farm vehicles.

The collection of the Collings Foundation is rarely seen by many and this event is a wonderful opportunity to visit the private museum for an up close and personal inspection of many of the automobiles and aircraft that revolutionized the transportation industry in the early part of the 20th century. The Collings Foundation is located at 137 Barton Road in Stow, MA near Lake Boon. Directions to the location can be found at: http://www.collingsfoundation.org/directions. Pilots are not allowed to land at the private landing area at the Collings Foundation headquarters. For pilots flying to the Stow area for the event, we recommend flying to Minuteman Airfield (6B6) which is about 4 miles from the event.

The Collings Foundation is a non-profit, Educational Foundation (501-C3), founded in 1979 and based in Stow, MA. The purpose of the Foundation is to organize and support "living history" events nationwide that enable Americans to learn more about their heritage through direct participation. The Collings Foundation operates the nationally-known "Wings of Freedom" tour of the B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator. *Please note: the B-17, B-24, & B-25 will not be on hand during the open house.
