More on the Vin Fiz Wright Flyer

George writes: I've been doing some digging, trying to find out more information on the Wright Flyer replica that flew at Worcester on Saturday October 11th 2003. It is a recreation of the 1911 model that made a cross country flight in September-December 1911. Details on its construction and original flight is found on the Wright Brothers Aeroplane Company web site. The replica is reasonably faithful to the original, but is powered with a Geo Metro engine, and will be fitted with a Ballistic Parachute for the cross-country flight.

On a more modern note, in a story originally reported on Slashdot, NASA reports that they have successfully flown a Laser Powered Aircraft The electric aircraft is powered by photo cells illuminated from a ground based laser.

The salary pilots make is another thing I like. They make more money than they know what to do with. This is because most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots don't because they know how easy it is. --5th grade student
