WPI Fly-In October 10-11, 2003

George writes: WPI is holding an "invitational* Fly-In" at ORH on October 10th and 11th. They are asking WAPA for help. We'll have more information at Thursday's WAPA meeting.

* Invitational because anyone entering the ramp at ORH needs to be pre-registered with Security. It is open to the public, with advanced registration. WPI will be managing the registration process.

Friday's activities will be held at WPI, and are open to the general public. They have a number of guest speakers lined up including Douglas Jacobs, former World Soaring Champion, Capt. Ross Pease, B2 pilot. A number of additional invitations are awaiting confirmation.

The festivities are being held in conjunction with the WPI Homecoming. So there will hopefully be a number of WPI Alumni flying to ORH for the event.

Airport activities on Saturday will include static aircraft displays, meetings with the speakers from the prior day, Flight demonstrations, and a lecture on the Fuel Cell E-Plane.

WPI is asking WAPA for help in a number of areas:

  • Volunteers for static aircraft displays - any home-builders, antique owners, out there?
  • Suggestions for other Fly-In activities
  • Suggestions for speakers, etc.
  • Participation!

More information will be available as the event gets closer.
